Rockpile Vineyard

Overview

Located in the highly sought after appellation of the same name, our Rockpile vineyard is owned by the Mauritson family. It is located in what is known as the Pritchett Peaks area of Rockpile, which falls into the Dry Creek Valley appellation. All vineyards in the appellation must be over 800 feet in elevation which puts it above the fog line so sun exposure is intense and slopes are steep.  The shallow soil of this vineyard has a notable absence of silt and sand so it stresses the vines resulting in low yields of intense fruit.

Tasting Notes

This regal Zinfandel is marked by its beautiful tannin structure that Rockpile is known for. This wine is luscious, yet surprisingly light on its feet with aromas of blackberry and plum with hints of nutmeg that lead to ripe flavors balanced by a solid core of acidity and tannins. This wine boasts of dark fruits with notes of anise and a mouth full of pleasure.
