Mukaida Vineyard, Russian River Valley
Planted in West Sebastopol, this is a premier location for Chardonnay. The vineyard is next to Luther Burbank’s Farm and the soil composition is rich Goldridge Sandy Loam. We call this vineyard Peters Vineyard, but Tom Mukaida will always be the patriarch of this land. He passed in 2013 and will be remembered for his love of this land. With the consistent coastal fog extending hang time, this fruit is fully developed and loaded with complexity. This Chardonnay is 100% Dijon Clone 76.
A barrel selection from our 2016 vintage of Peters Vineyard Chardonnay revealed a special and preservable character of clone 76. Aromas of poached pear interspersed with subtle hints of popcorn greet you and are followed up with flavors of honeydew, butterscotch, and slight notes of grassiness. The mouthfeel is soft and luscious balanced by a bright acidity giving way to a delightful finish of buttery Meyer lemon.
