2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, Ruth's Vineyard, Magnum

Alexander Valley

This 100 acre vineyard, owned by Timber Crest Farms and named for Ruth Waltenspiel, is located in Alexander Valley and shares the western bank of the Russian River.  Grower, Randy Peters, planted clones 2, 7 & 337 in this vineyard.  The 30 year old vines grow in Cortina soil, a gravely sandy loam, which forces the vines to work hard for water creating small berries and intense flavors.

Tasting Notes

The 2015 Cabernet is delicate and graceful yet bold and powerful.  Subtle notes of smoke tobacco leaf and mineral, underscore the plum, dried rosemary and dark cherry flavors in this balanced wine. This wine calls out for a piece of grilled meat and will certainly age gracefully for the next 12 to 15 years.
