2017 Malbec, Timber Crest

Timber Crest Vineyard, Dry Creek Valley

This 120 acre Timber Crest Vineyard is located on Dry Creek’s world renowned bench land on the east side of the valley. For years Timber Crest Farms was known for their organic dried fruits, now it is home to our winery.  High enough above the valley floor, the vineyard is safe from the threat of frost.  This ten year old vines go through extensive crop thinning to give us more intense characteristics. Cool nights and foggy mornings greet the vines most days, lending to retention of acidity.  The hot sunny days permit the grapes to soak in all the beauty of Dry Creek Valley

Tasting Notes

The 2017 Malbec has a rich ruby red color that shines through the glass and a nose full of violet, plum, and cassis. When it hits the palate it has big tannins that will soften over time, but are still very well balanced with big lush flavors of dark berry intertwined with notes of spice and bitter chocolate. Although beautiful right out of the bottle, this wine will benefit from 5-7 years of aging in your cellar.
