With ocean breezes moderating the summer temperatures, the growing season in Redwood Valley is noticeably longer than other inland AVAs. Grapes are able to ripen slowly, resulting in wines that have an exceptional balance of tannins, acidity, alcohol and fruit flavors. The terrain is defined by its elevation and distinctive soils, which tend to be very red in color and consist of alluvial loam and gravel. This vineyard has 100-year old vines, all head trained and dry farmed.
A deep beautiful ruby hue, this Carignan immediately pleases with aromas of cassis punctuated by subtle nuances of raspberry, strawberry, and brambly notes. Flavors of fig and cooked berries are interspersed with herbaceous notes and hints of eucalyptus. A bright pomegranate finish showcases the beautiful balance of silky tannins and bright acidity.
